Our Management

Mr Andrew Lim is the Chief Executive Officer of the Company. He has over 30 years of experience in general insurance, having served in leadership positions at both local and foreign general insurance companies. He has held positions in the Management Committee of the General Insurance Association of Singapore (GIA), the Agency Registration Board (ARB) and Financial Industry Disputes Resolution Centre (FIDREC).

Andrew is also active in his contributions to the insurance industry, being involved in bodies such as the General Insurance Association and the Financial Industry Disputes Resolution Centre.

 

Aaron Cheong serves as Assistant General Manager, overseeing Corporate Services, including accounting, finance, and UOI’s investment portfolio. He is also responsible for investor relations and ensures strong financial governance across the company.

 

A trusted steward of UOI’s financial integrity, he manages capital adequacy and regulatory accounting transitions, including the shift to SFRS(I) 17, while maintaining robust governance across the organisation.

Basil Ho serves as Head of Compliance, overseeing the company’s regulatory governance and ensuring adherence to industry standards through robust compliance frameworks and effective risk management. With extensive experience in financial and insurance regulation, he drives initiatives that strengthen internal controls, enhance regulatory readiness, and foster a strong culture of compliance across the organisation

Christopher Neo leads the Underwriting & Operations Division, driving excellence in risk assessment and operational execution across UOI’s insurance portfolio. In his role, he champions process optimisation and cross‑functional collaboration to ensure prompt, accurate underwriting and seamless operations across business lines

Karen Chee leads Human Resources Division, driving talent strategy, organisational development, and people operations to support a high-performing and inclusive workplace. With deep HR experience in financial services, she oversees key initiatives in talent acquisition, capability building, and employee engagement, playing a central role in ensuring UOI attracts, develops, and retains strong talent aligned with the company’s values and strategic priorities.

Katie Lee leads UOI’s Claims function, heading the team responsible for claims processing and resolution. She brings over 20 years of deep institutional knowledge and operational leadership to the role, ensuring UOI’s claims handling remains highly responsive, fair, and consistent over decades of service.

Pauline Sim heads the Strategic Transformation Office and leads UOI’s commercial bancassurance initiatives with UOB. With more than two decades of experience in SME banking, fintech, innovation, and digitalisation, she plays a pivotal role in shaping UOI’s evolving strategy and transformation journey

Ms Tanya Godbeer leads the Retail Distribution Division at United Overseas Insurance, where she oversees strategy and execution to drive retail growth and enhance customer delivery. With a strong background in distribution leadership within the insurance industry, Tanya plays a pivotal role in ensuring that our insurance products are accessible, innovative, and aligned with evolving customer needs.

Mr Hwang is a chartered insurer with more than 50 years’ experience. He is an honorary fellow of the Singapore Insurance Institute and a Justice of the Peace.

A career banker with more than 40 years’ experience, Mr Wee is active in the banking and financial services industry and the community through his involvement in various industry-based organisations. He was previously Deputy Chairman of the Housing & Development Board and a director of the Port of Singapore Authority, UOL Group and Pan Pacific Hotels Group.

Mr Chua stepped down from his role as Special Advisor (Financial Supervision) at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) in 2018 after 25 years of distinguished service at the Authority. Prior to that, he was the Assistant Managing Director in charge of the Banking and Insurance Group where he was responsible for the licensing and supervision of banks, insurance and finance companies, and anti-money laundering supervision for the financial sector. He was also a member of its Executive Committee where he was involved in policy making and the overall oversight of the Authority.

Currently, he sits on the boards of the Gambling Regulatory Authority and other financial institutions and provides consultancy and training services.

Mr Ngan is a chartered accountant with more than 26 years of professional services experience in Ernst & Young (EY). He retired as a Partner of EY in 2020, where he was the Head of Assurance for Financial Services and oversaw the growth and strategic priorities of the practices covering banks, asset management and insurance companies. His advisory experience included providing internal audit and risk management services to financial institutions and other special assignments such as cross border bonds and shares listing offerings.

Mr Leong has more than 20 years of banking experience from working with local and international banks. He has advised extensively on corporate strategy, transformation, restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, as well as capital markets financing and investments in Asia Pacific.

A chartered insurer with more than 40 years’ experience in the insurance industry, Ms Tan has managed both local and foreign-owned insurance companies, and retired as the CEO of Sompo Insurance in 2019. She is currently a senior director of an insurance broker and sits on the board of another insurance agent as a non-executive director.
