Eligibility for Cover
- The applicant must be domiciled in Singapore.
- The applicant must be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident of Singapore or has a valid Employment Pass or Work Permit to work in Singapore or have a Dependent Pass or Long-Term Visit Pass.
- Family Plan consists of you and your spouse with any number of your children. Child 16 years and above can travel alone in a Family Plan.
- Child means a fully dependent child under the age of 18 years or up to 23 years who is studying full-time in a recognised institution of higher learning and is not married nor in any employment on the start date of the Period of Insurance stated in the Certificate of Insurance and/or Policy.
- The trip must not be for the purpose of seeking medical treatment.
Other Enrolment Information
- Age shall mean the age of the Insured or Insured Person on the start date of the Period of Insurance stated in the Certificate of Insurance and/or Policy.
- An adult shall mean a person who is age 18 years old and above at the commencement of the Trip.
- Annual Multi-Trip Individual Plan is available for Insured Person who is 18 years old and up to 75 years old.
Commencement of Coverage
- All trips must start and end in Singapore.
- Travel Insurance must be purchased before commencement of trip from Singapore.
Maximum Duration of Trip(s)
- Single Trip: Up to 185 days. Inadequate period of insurance for Single Trip Plan may prejudice the validity of insurance cover.
- Annual Multi-Trip: Multi-trips, subject to maximum 90 days per Trip
Calculation of Premium
- If the same Trip involves travel to a few countries and to different zones, the premium to be charged shall be based on the furthest zone.
Refund and Cancellation Policy
- You may cancel the policy at any time prior to the commencement of the trip by giving written notice to us. We will refund you the premium paid less S$25 being the minimum premium for per Insured Person for Individual Plan or S$25 per Family Plan. No refund of premium will be made if the Trip has commenced, or any claim is made under the Policy. For Annual Multi-Trip Plan, it will be subject to the short-term rate as stated in the policy wording. There will not be any refund for amount less than S$10.
Major Exclusions
The usual major exclusions such as:
- Known Event or Pre-existing condition as defined in the Definition, congenital disease or physical abnormality
- War, invasion, acts of foreign enemies, hostilities (whether war be declared or not), a Civil War, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, military or usurped power or confiscation or nationalisation or requisition or destruction of or damage to property by or under the order of any Government or public or local authority.
- Nuclear fission, nuclear fusion or radioactive contamination
- Sanction Limitation and Exclusion Clause.

What are the new enhancements for UniTravel?
As of Jan 2025, UOI Travel Insurance has been renamed to UniTravel and the product has been enhanced to include, but is not limited to the following:
- Increased Annual Multi-Trip age eligibility
- Introduced ‘Basic Plan’ for Annual Multi-Trip
- Increased limit of Rental Vehicle Excess to up to $3,000
Who is eligible to buy UOI Travel?
You must be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident living in Singapore, or hold a valid Employment Pass, Work Permit, Dependent Pass or Long-Term Visit Pass to work or stay in Singapore. Your trip must start and end in Singapore.
What is the definition of ‘Family Plan’ in UOI Travel?
A Family Plan covers you and/or your legal spouse with any number of your children travelling together for the entire Trip.
On the start date of the policy, your child must not be married nor employed, and must be 18 years old and below, or 23 years old and below if studying full-time in a recognised institute of higher learning.
For Annual Multi-Trip Plan, child(ren) who is/are below the age of sixteen years must be travelling and accompanied by at least one adult insured within this Policy for any Trip made during the Period of Insurance.
Is there any age limit?
You must be between 18 and 80 years old to purchase UniTravel. For Annual Multi-Trip, the enrolment is between 18 and 75 years old. The cover limit for certain benefits will be reduced for insured persons aged 70 years old and above.
I am travelling to a few countries in one Trip, how do I choose my geographical area?
Please select the geographical area based on the furthest country you intend to travel to.
Can I buy UniTravel after a known event such as natural disaster?
Any claims arising from a known event will not be covered unless you purchased the policy before the known event was reported in the media or travel advisories issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Can I buy UniTravel after I leave Singapore for the Trip?
You must buy UniTravel before you leave Singapore. If you purchase UniTravel after you leave Singapore, the insurance contract will be void, i.e., there will be no insurance cover.
If I cancel my policy after purchasing it online, am I eligible for a refund?
For a Single Trip policy, we will refund the premium paid less a minimum premium of $25 per insured person for Individual Plan and $25 per Family Plan. We will not refund any amount less than $5. No refund of premium will be made if the trip has commenced, or any claim is made under the policy issued.
For an Annual Multi-Trip policy, at least 30 days written notice must be submitted to us, and the premium refund will be based on the short period rates stated in the policy, provided no claim is made prior to the policy cancellation. Any premium refund will be made to the payment card used at the time of purchase.
Does UniTravel cover one-way journeys?
No, we do not provide travel insurance for one-way journey. The Trip must start and end in Singapore within the Period of Insurance.
When does UniTravel commence cover?
For each trip, cover commences once you leave your residence or business in Singapore to begin the trip and lasts until you return to your place of residence or business in Singapore, or the expiry of the Certificate of Insurance (whichever is earlier). Trip Cancellation cover starts 30 days from the scheduled departure date.
Who do I contact for emergency medical assistance while overseas?
You may call UOI 24-hour Emergency Hotline number at 65-6222 7737 and our appointed service provider will assist you.
How do I file a claim for UniTravel?
You may submit your claim form and supporting documents to our appointed claims handling agent, Broadspire by Crawford & Company at travel-uoi@broadspire.asia. You may also contact them at (+65) 6632 8639 during their business hours. All claims must be filed no later than 31 days after expiry of the insurance policy.

12/03/2024 : Due to the on-going civil unrest in Haiti and high risk of violent crime, this is a known-event on or after 12 March 2024 where our travel insurance does not cover any claim if you booked your trip, purchase your policy and/or travel to or transiting through Haiti.
18/10/2023 : Due to the latest developments in Israel-Hamas War, this is a known-event on or after 7 Oct 2023 where our travel insurance does not cover any claim if you booked your trip, purchase your policy and/or travel to or transiting through Israel, Lebanon, Egypt and Jordan.
