Useful Information
Eligibility for Cover
- The applicant must be domiciled in Singapore.
- The applicant must be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident of Singapore or has a valid Employment Pass or Work Permit to work in Singapore or have a Dependent Pass or Long-Term Visit Pass.
- Family Plan consists of you and your spouse with any number of your children. The family must be travelling together throughout the same travel period.
- Child means a fully dependent child under the age of 18 years or up to 23 years who is studying full-time in a recognised institution of higher learning and is not married nor in any employment on the start date of the Period of Insurance stated in the Certificate of Insurance and/or Policy.
- The trip must not be for the purpose of seeking medical treatment.
Other Enrolment Information
- Age shall mean the age of the Insured or Insured Person on his/her next birthday on the start date of the Period of Insurance stated in the Certificate of Insurance and/or Policy.
- An adult shall mean a person who is age 18 years old and above at the commencement of the Trip.
- Male who is serving National Service or waiting for enlistment is construed as an Adult.
- Annual Multi-Trip Individual Plan is available for Insured Person who is above the age of 21 years old and up to 65 years old.
Commencement of Coverage
- All trips must start and end in Singapore.
- Travel Insurance must be purchased before commencement of trip from Singapore.
Maximum Duration of Trip(s)
- Single Trip: Up to 185 days. Inadequate period of insurance for Single Trip Plan may prejudice the validity of insurance cover.
- Annual Multi-Trip: Multi-trips, subject to maximum 90 days per Trip
Calculation of Premium
If the same Trip involves travel to a few countries and to different zones, the premium to be charged shall be based on the furthest zone.
Refund and Cancellation Policy
In the event the Insured wishes to cancel the policy after successful payment, it will be subject to an administrative charge of S$25 for each Insured Person for Individual Plan and S$25 for each Family Plan. For Annual Multi-Trip Plan, it will be subject to the short-term rate as stated in the policy wording. There will not be any refund for amount less than S$5.
Major Exclusions
We shall not pay for claims under this Policy arising from:
- Pre-existing Conditions
- Known Event;
- Pregnancy including childbirth, caesarean operation, abortion, miscarriage and all related complications except miscarriage due to an Accident.
- While you are engaged in naval, military, air force service or operations, or testing of any kind of conveyance, offshore or mining, aerial photography or handling in explosives.
- War, invasion, acts of foreign enemies, hostilities (whether war be declared or not), a Civil War, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, military or usurped power
- Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Agent Terrorism.
- Sanction Limitation and Exclusion Clause.

Who is eligible to buy UOI Travel?
The eligible applicant must be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident living in Singapore or a foreigner holding a valid Employment Pass or Work Permit to work in Singapore or hold a Dependent Pass or Long-Tern Visit Pass to stay in Singapore.
What is the definition of ‘Family Plan’ in UOI Travel?
Family Plan refers to you and/or your spouse with any number of your child or children travelling together for the entire Trip.
For Annual Multi-Trip Family Plan, the Child must be accompanied by at least one of the insured adults for any Trip during the Period of Insurance.
Child means a fully dependent child under the age of eighteen (18) years or up to twenty-three (23) years who is studying full-time in a recognised institution of higher learning and is neither married nor in employment on the start date of the Period of Insurance stated in the Certificate of Insurance and/or Policy.
Is there any age limit?
There is no age limit for the applicant to purchase a Single Trip policy. However, for the Child and Adult whose age is seventy (70) years old and above, certain benefit limits will be reduced.
For Annual Multi-Trip Plan, the minimum and maximum enrolment age is twenty-one (21) and sixty-five (65) years old, respectively, on the date of purchase of this insurance. Insurance policy renewal is not guaranteed.
Who should enrol for an Annual Multi-Trip policy?
We highly recommend for a frequent traveller to take up an Annual Multi-Trip Policy as it is more cost-effective and convenient. The policy is issued for one (1) year where an individual can make unlimited number of Trips to the selected region of travel and the duration for each Trip must not exceed ninety (90) days.
Annual Multi-Trip policy is now available to an Individual or Family. For the Annual Multi-Trip Family Plan, the Child must be accompanied by at least one of the Insured adults for any Trip during the Period of Insurance.
I am travelling to a few countries in one Trip, how do I choose my geographical area?
If the same Trip involves travel to a few countries and to different zones, the premium to be charged shall be based on the furthest zone.
Can I buy UOI Travel after a known event such as natural disaster?
Any claims arising from a known event will not be covered unless you purchased the policy before the known event was reported in the media or travel advisories issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Can I buy UOI Travel after I leave Singapore for the Trip?
You must buy UOI Travel before you leave Singapore. If you purchase UOI Travel after you leave Singapore, the insurance contract will be void, i.e., there will be no insurance cover.
What is the mode of payment for online purchase of UOI Travel?
We accept Amex, MasterCard and VISA credit or debit cards for online purchase.
How will I know if my application is successful?
Upon completion of the premium payment, a copy of the Certificate of Insurance will be sent to your registered email. If you provided your mobile phone number during the application, you would also receive a Short Message Service (SMS) text to inform you that your online application is successful.
If I decide to cancel my insurance policy after the online activation for UOI Travel, can I get a premium refund?
For Single Trip Plan, we will refund the premium paid less a minimum premium of $25 per Insured Person for Individual Plan and $25 per Family Plan. No refund of premium will be made if the Trip has commenced, or any claim is made under the policy issued. There will also not be any refund for amount less than S$5.
For Annual Multi-Trip Plan, at least thirty (30) days written notice must be provided to UOI and the refund of premium is based on the short period rates stated in the policy, provided no claim is made prior to the policy cancellation.
Any refund of insurance premium will be made to the same card that was used to pay for the insurance premium at the time of purchase.

Does UOI Travel cover one-way journeys?
No, we do not provide travel insurance for one-way journey. The Trip must start and end in Singapore within the Period of Insurance.
When does UOI Travel commence cover?
For Single Trip Plan, the insurance will commence when you leave your place of residence or business in Singapore (whichever is later) to commence the Trip until the time of your return to your place of residence or business in Singapore or the expiry of the Certificate of Insurance (whichever is the earlier) on completion of the Trip.
Incorrect Period of Insurance will affect the validity of your insurance policy.

How do I file a claim for UOI Travel?

All claims must be submitted within thirty-one (31) days after the expiry of the policy or upon return to Singapore. You may submit claims on behalf of other claimants provided all claimants have the same policy number/certificate number, date of loss and incident, and claiming for the same benefit.
How do I know if my claim submission has been received by UOI?
If you submit claim online, you will receive an acknowledgement with a claim submission reference number sent to your registered email address upon successful submission.
If you submit the claim via mail, you will receive an acknowledgement within three (3) business days upon receipt of the claim form to your registered email address.
